Each year, millions of metric tons of plastic waste enter our oceans, where they are ingested by and entangle wildlife, and collect in gyres as a growing “plastic soup” of microplastics. I created this “Plastific Tuna” entirely from microplastics that I found along Maui’s shorelines. I then created this T-shirt design inspired by the Japanese gyotaku or fish prints that are common in Hawaiʻi. I donate 100% of the proceeds from selling these shirts to Maui Huliau Foundation‘s youth environmental education programs. Please contact me if you would like to purchase one.
